This recipe was prepared by Bakin' Bill Johnson at the Camp Chef D.O.G.

1 cup flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon paprika
20 chicken wings or tenders
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup hot sauce
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Combine flour, salt, cayenne pepper, and paprika in bowl.
Coat chicken pieces in dry mixture.
Reserve leftover mixture.
Refrigerate coated chicken at least 1 hour.
Coat chicken in leftover flour mixture.
In a saucepan, heat butter, hot sauce, pepper, and garlic powder just until butter melts, then keep warm.
Deep fry chicken, 10 pieces at a time, in 375 degree oil for 13 minutes.
Drain chicken on paper towels.
Immediately place chicken in Tupperware bowl.
Pour half the hot sauce mixture over chicken (first 10 pieces).
Cover and toss to coat.
Repeat with second batch of chicken.
Wings can be frozen and reheated in 400 degree oven for 10 minutes.
NOTES : Use ranch or blue cheese dressing as a dip for these fabulous wings.

Camp Chef D.O.G.

Camp Chef and Ed Quinlan sponsored a great Dutch Oven Gathering at their plant in Logan, Utah this last weekend. It attracted Dutch oven cooks from all over. They came to cook their wonderful recipes to share with all. No one went away hungary! Ed also opened the warehouse with great deals on ovens, stoves and other stuff. There were numerous clearance items and new stock available at great prices. All also participated in the prize drawing and most everyone went away winners. This was a good opportunity to renew friendships and talk of the great Dutch oven cooking awaiting us this year.
The only loosers were those who didn't take advantage of this D.O.G.. Better luck next year.

Pony Express Cook-off

The 3rd Annual Eagle Mountain Pony Express Dutch Oven Cook-off was held June 4, 2005.
There were 5 advanced and 4 novice teams. Rosa & Marisela Sanchez were the 1st place winners walking away with the grand prize of $1,000. They cooked Baby Back Ribs, Rolls & Pie. The other contestants were: Vernon & Barbara Winterton 5th place; Cathy & Maline Robison, 4th place; Jay & Carol Fuller, 2nd place; and Ben Auxier, 3rd place. The novice winners were: Will & Jenifer Ward, 2nd place novice; Gordon & Rosario Leiter, 1st place novice; Justin & Cindy Muir, 3rd place novice; Justin Pinkham, 4th place novice.
Ryan and Amber Price were the cook-off organizers and did a good job to get more contestants out this year.
I will post some photos and the winning recipes later.
